Hi my name is Cat, I live in Leeds, West Yorkshire and I’ve decided to blog to make a record of my memories and achievements. From DIY to new artistic techniques. I want it to remind me of how far I’ve come and to motivate me to keep going. If some of what I’ve done can help you too, or you can give me any tips or new techniques you’ve learnt I’d love to know.
My artistic background started at Leeds college of Art and Design, now known as Leeds Arts University where in 1999 I started a BTEC ND in Graphic Design. I then went on to a university in Carlisle in 2001 to study a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design at Cumbria Institute of the Arts, they are now called University of Cumbria. I did find it difficult as computer design didn’t come as naturally to me as just making art with your hands. I came out with a 2:2. I did enjoy living in Carlisle and the friends I made, it was a great learning experience.
Unfortunately I have never been able to get a job in art which I still love which has lead me to here. I still like to join art classes, and in my house I’m learning how to make my house look how I’d like by learning DIY techniques whilst hopefully not costing a fortune.
Now, the introvert section to this blog is to do with realisations I’ve found out about myself quite recently. A bit like a lightbulb moment. I’ll hopefully go into this more in a blog if anyone would find this helpful to them. It made me realise why sometimes I just didn’t want to hang out with my friends, or anyone else, and just would like to be on my own. It was not that I don’t like being with my friends, but I realised I needed to re-energise my batteries as I’d spent a lot of time with people that day. It was like a revelation when I found out about the Myers Briggs test. I am ISFJ and proud 🙂 There is more to it than just that but maybe I’ll go into it in more detail in a separate blog for you.
Hopefully you will enjoy the journey with me.
p.s. I also wanted to say a big thank you to my friend Natalie for taking the profile pictures of me and the header photos. Thank you for erasing my fine lines 🙂
